CHILI POWDER is the dried, pulverized fruit of varieties of chili pepper mixed with additional spices. Some of these spices included oregano, cumin, garlic, and ground chili pepper. This spice blend usually dominates food rather than enhancing it. Dark red to brownish red in color, it is a blend of ground spices with an earthly, slightly sweet, and sometimes hot flavor.
